Senior🎓
Top SchoolAlessandro Balasco is a hands-on engineering leader and software architect with over 14 years of professional experience and a 20+ year technical background, currently leading engineering at Wolt from Berlin. He specializes in backend development and designing scalable distributed systems, with deep practical experience building Golang microservices, Kubernetes-based deployments, and observability with OpenTelemetry. Alessandro has scaled production services (e.g., a Threat Protection tool at Nord Security from 10 to 500 req/s while keeping latency under 100ms), led cross-functional teams of up to 10 engineers, and served as CTO at Nestpick. He combines a DevOps mindset with agile practices to mentor and grow engineering teams, hire effectively (50+ interviews at Nord), and translate product vision into robust roadmaps. His career spans startups and scaleups across e-commerce, IoT, ad-tech and security, and he brings uncommon breadth—from building payment APIs at Rocket Internet to predictive solar monitoring systems—alongside a pragmatic focus on shipping reliable systems.
