Andrew Mayne is a Professor and lead researcher with over a decade of experience applying AI, high-performance computing, and predictive modeling to practical business problems. As Primary Investigator of Durham College’s AI Hub, he helps SMEs adopt intelligent and autonomous solutions by combining open-source deep learning, recommender systems, and time-series expertise with hands-on student talent and applied research. He is passionate about extracting unexpected knowledge from data and designing technologies that enable organizations to solve challenges independently rather than borrowing one-size-fits-all solutions. A lifelong educator and connector, he blends curriculum development and mentorship with community-driven innovation and a commitment to universal design that seeks to reduce human suffering through responsible AI. Unusually for an academic, he also draws on a consulting background in web technologies, giving him practical product-minded perspective in research translation.
