Summary
👤
SeniorAndrew Watkins is a senior software engineer and pragmatic systems designer with 11+ years of recent experience and a long career spanning embedded systems, mobile, cloud, and data-driven science applications. He blends hands-on full-stack development (Node/React, Python, Mongo/Postgres) with strategic leadership—having run his own company, led rapid-growth mobile software teams, and served as CIO/GM responsible for 30 IT staff and major cloud migrations. He excels at turning science and transport research into production-ready systems, modernising DevOps and cloud platforms, and forming agile cross-functional teams that ship. Based on a background coding since 1980 and an early career building embedded dataloggers and GPS UI for automotive products, he brings deep low-level experience that informs elegant high-level architectures. Now focused on design and coding, he prefers building robust, secure systems and mentoring teams to do the same.
