Summary
👤
SeniorCarey Hinoki is a seasoned frontend-focused software engineer with 12+ years building high-quality, accessible web experiences for companies like Meta, Walmart Labs, Amazon, and Disney. He blends a designer’s eye for pixel-perfect interfaces with an engineer’s discipline around performance, test coverage, and maintainable architecture, having led component libraries, design systems, and tooling efforts at scale. Carey has repeatedly introduced modern frontend practices (React, Storybook, CSS Modules, design tokens) to backend-heavy organizations and coached dozens of engineers to adopt them. Notable wins include creating an AA-accessible React + TypeScript component library with ~98% test coverage, dramatically shrinking icon bundles via an SVG workflow, and modernizing content tooling for Prime Video Catalog. Based in Huntington Beach, he favors language-agnostic architecture but admits a soft spot for JavaScript, and he enjoys collaborating with teams that share his passion for craft and usability.
