Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolCarl Fields is an Assistant Professor and computational nuclear astrophysicist with a decade of experience modeling massive stars, their explosions, and the multi-messenger signals they produce. He combines deep theoretical expertise (PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics) with hands-on computational physics developed during roles at Los Alamos National Laboratory and data-driven training through the LSST Data Science Fellowship. His work spans nuclear microphysics to large-scale simulations, bridging astrophysical theory and observatory-relevant predictions as an Assistant Astronomer at Steward Observatory. Funded and recognized by fellowships from NSF and Ford, he brings a track record of independent research and mentoring in high-performance computing environments. An interesting thread through his career is a consistent focus on translating complex simulation output into observable signatures for multi-messenger astronomy.
