Top SchoolChris Lindsay is an independent app developer and former staff engineer with 11 years of professional experience building user-focused software across mobile, desktop, and web platforms. Based in Ikoma, Japan, he is the creator and primary developer of Nihongo, a Japanese-English dictionary and learning app that leverages custom NLP to extract words from Japanese text and build contextual flashcard decks. His background spans client-side security and product UX—shipping features like Device Trust and iOS Encryption at Box—and low-level work on a Chromium-based secure browser at Subspace. He codes natively on Apple platforms (Objective-C and Swift), has deep experience in database query optimization, and maintains practical open-source contributions such as updating SimulatorStatusMagic to support newer iOS versions. A lifelong maker who started creating web games in high school, he also handles marketing, QA, and customer support for his indie apps, blending technical craft with product ownership. Outside work he’s a dad and applies his language-study experience directly to the tools he builds, giving his products a practical empathy for learners.
