Top SchoolChristopher Esther is a research specialist at the Marsico Lung Institute who applies computational algorithms and particle-tracking microrheology to quantify nanoparticle diffusion and reveal the abnormal rheology of mucus in cystic fibrosis and other muco-obstructive lung diseases. With three years of focused research experience and a background in biology and medical radiologic technology from UNC, he leads development of novel data-processing algorithms for a proprietary one-dimensional diffusion assay and builds the software pipelines that turn large experimental datasets into mechanistic insight. Based in Chapel Hill, he pairs this biophysics expertise with eight years of hands-on experience designing and operating complex live-audio and digital networks, a cross-disciplinary skill set that strengthens experimental design, instrumentation troubleshooting, and collaborator communication. He is equally comfortable coding analysis scripts as he is configuring live sound systems, an unusual combination that helps bridge lab automation with practical engineering constraints.
