Senior🎓
Top SchoolClaus Haslauer is an environmental engineer and hydrogeologist with 13 years of research and leadership experience, currently serving as Scientific Director of VEGAS at the University of Stuttgart. He combines field skills—drilling, well installation and sampling—with advanced numerical modelling (FeFlow, HydroGeoSphere) and a PhD focus on multidimensional spatial statistics using copulas. His work spans groundwater flow, solute transport, well vulnerability and capture zone analysis, informed by strong geostatistics and time-series expertise. Claus has supervised Diplom, Master and Bachelor students and taught complex topics, bridging rigorous research with practical water-resources problem solving. He brings pragmatic coding experience (Python/numpy, Fortran, Mathematica), GIS and database skills to turn observational data into robust, interpretable models. An underappreciated strength is his ability to marry stochastic theory with hands-on field campaigns, ensuring models reflect real-world heterogeneity.
