Summary
🤩
RockstarClive Chan is a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI with 12 years of hands-on experience building power- and performance-conscious ML infrastructure. He previously led deep learning infrastructure at Tesla, driving ASIC bringup, datacenter codesign, GPU optimizations and power-efficient numeric formats, and presented weekly technical updates up to the CEO. His background spans quantum control systems, propulsion GPU tooling at SpaceX, and fast-path performance wins at Google, reflecting a focus on squeezing more intelligence per picojoule across hardware and software stacks. A Waterloo software engineering graduate and early hyperloop technical founder, he blends systems-level thinking with rapid prototyping and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Colleagues describe him as an engineer who targets real-world efficiency gains rather than academic elegance, turning low-level optimizations into measurable product impact.
