He moved from Italy to San Francisco in 2011 and has deep expertise in search, real-time pipelines, microservices and operational reliability from roles at Trulia/Zillow and Solv. Damiano combines hands-on systems design—Apache Solr, Hadoop, Java/Python stacks and realtime ML-featurizers—with people leadership, having grown and managed cross-functional teams through architectural migrations and productionization efforts. He’s driven practical innovations like production-grade Solr Cloud migrations, real-time personalized ranking pipelines and standardized deployment/release frameworks that became team-wide standards. Based in Veneto, he brings a pragmatic, product-oriented engineering mindset backed by academic roots in software engineering and an uncommon blend of backend search mastery and healthcare consumer product experience.
