Top SchoolDan Burnette is a Senior Software Engineer based in Austin with 11 years of experience building robust Ruby on Rails and modern JavaScript applications, currently shipping Rails and Vue at Corporate Tools. He has a strong track record as a primary feature author, library author, mentor, and code reviewer from stints at +SUBSCRIBE® and 8th Light, and has repeatedly delivered full-stack products in Rails/React. As founder and solo developer of The Scientific Meal Planner, he built a production-grade SaaS—handling cloud scaling, database optimization, marketing, and partner revenue automation—demonstrating rare end-to-end product ownership beyond pure engineering. Comfortable operating as the sole developer or as part of a team, he emphasizes high test coverage, continuous integration, and readable code. His background in biology and early bioinformatics work gives him a pragmatic, data-informed perspective on problem solving that informs both technical and product decisions.
