Top SchoolDaniel Kats is a CTO and machine learning researcher with 13 years of experience building ML-driven products that intersect security, HCI, and PropTech. He led and invented BotSight at NortonLifeLock, authored multiple patents and peer-reviewed publications, and now runs the engineering stack at an ML/PropTech startup, Reffie. His background spans productionizing detectors for disinformation, threat discovery, and privacy leaks—combining research rigor with C-suite-facing technical communication. A University of Toronto M.Sc. and B.Sc. alumnus, he has practical experience across startups and large vendors (Yelp, IBM, Symantec/Norton) and a track record of shipping impactful research into product. Outside of work he balances hands-on tinkering—documented on his blog and GitHub—with rock climbing, judo, and elaborate coffee setups, reflecting a hands-on maker ethos that informs his leadership.
