Top SchoolDavid Grilli is a Senior Software Engineer with 13 years of experience building resilient backend systems and developer tooling, currently based in London and working at Fonix. He has a track record of scaling high-throughput platforms—from supporting a 5M-user growth and handling 60k RPM to operating livestream and chat infrastructures—and has repeatedly cut costs and deployment times through pragmatic architecture changes. At unimal.jp he led services for web creators reaching 300 MAU, migrated systems from Heroku to AWS saving 30% in infrastructure costs, and delivered zero-downtime database migrations and faster CI/CD. He combines hands-on engineering with mentorship and cross-functional collaboration, onboarding junior teammates, teaching web development, and even organising team English classes. A lifelong learner with formal training in telecoms, networks, and new media design, he pairs systems-level thinking with product-minded execution. Outside of engineering he writes and speaks at local tech events, bringing clear communication to complex technical problems.
