Top SchoolDavid Thorpe is a creative software engineer and founder with 14 years of experience building and scaling web platforms, currently crafting learning content for the Laravel Certification team while running his product studio, Carve Digital. He has held senior technical leadership roles including CTO and Lead Engineer, bringing hands-on expertise in PHP frameworks (Laravel, CodeIgniter, Zend), e-commerce integrations, Linux server administration, and deployment automation. David combines product sensibility with low-level systems know-how—having managed render farms and large fleets of Linux workstations—so he comfortably spans infrastructure through front-end delivery. He’s passionate about turning repetitive tasks into automated workflows and mentoring teams to adopt version control and modern development practices. Based in Essex, UK, he blends an adventurous, creative approach with practical experience shipping high-impact digital products.
