Senior🎓
Top SchoolDawid Borycki is a Principal Scientist with eight years of industrial experience translating advanced academic research in biomedical optics into commercial products, currently leading experimental optics efforts at CoMind. He designs and develops noninvasive, ultra-fast tissue imaging and sensing devices using light interferometry, combining signal and image processing, device control software, numerical simulation, and experiment planning. His background spans academia and industry—from postdoctoral work at UC Davis quantifying cerebral blood flow to product-focused engineering for Canon ophthalmic OCT systems—giving him rare end-to-end expertise from theory to market. Dawid enjoys mentoring and teaching through technical writing and open-source projects, and frequently collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across startups and research centers in Europe and the US. Notably, he holds a PhD in theoretical physics and a habilitation in biomedical engineering, which underpins his ability to turn complex optical science into practical, deployable instrumentation.
