Senior🎓
Top SchoolDerek Lam is a Senior Software Engineer based in Los Angeles with five years of hands-on experience building full-stack and infrastructure systems using React, Django, Python, Terraform, and TypeScript. At Narmi he evolved from engineer #10 into a lead role, driving the migration from EC2 to ECS, implementing cross-region disaster recovery, and owning deploy pipelines and an MCP server integration for Claude. He has a pragmatic SRE background—designing monitoring, Terraform/Ansible automation, and cross-team deploy workflows—and earlier built cross-platform Electron tooling and a custom NPM package bridging gRPC and REST. Comfortable spanning frontend, backend, and infra, Derek combines product-focused engineering with reliability-first operations. His academic roots in molecular genetics hint at a research-minded curiosity that informs his systematic approach to complex systems. Public code is available on GitHub (https://github.com/DerekQuoc), reflecting a preference for practical, reusable engineering solutions.
