Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolDerek Leiro is a Senior Software Engineer based in Nairobi with seven years of experience building mobile and web products and repeatedly stepping into technical founder roles. He combines hands-on Android and Flutter expertise with full-stack (MERN) experience, having served as CTO or co-founder for multiple startups while also delivering engineering leadership at companies like Drift Consult and VunaPay. Derek moves fluidly between shipping consumer-facing apps and architecting backend solutions, and his background in Business Information Technology gives him a product-minded approach to engineering. He’s comfortable in early-stage, high-uncertainty environments—evident from stints as Entrepreneur in Residence at Antler and several rapid-build ventures. Outside code, his GitHub bio’s cosmically reflective line hints at a perspective that values curiosity and stepping back to see bigger opportunities.
