Top SchoolDerek Liu is a Senior Software Engineer based in the San Francisco Bay Area with over a decade of hands-on experience designing and shipping high-throughput, extensible software across embedded, GUI, and distributed systems. He specializes in low-level protocol and accelerator driver development (notably UFS and PCIe) and has led Linux-based protocol driver design integrated tightly with FPGA firmware. Comfortable across C/C++, Python, C# and Java, Derek brings deep expertise in multithreading, networking, parser/tooling (ANTLR, Flex/Bison) and performance debugging to ensure availability, latency and scalability targets. He’s delivered production-grade test systems and customer-facing APIs at Advantest, while earlier roles blended product leadership, team building and automation for embedded and enterprise software. Pragmatic and detail-oriented, Derek often bridges firmware and software boundaries to validate hardware at register level—an uncommon strength that shortens development cycles.
