Summary
🤩
RockstarDerek Petersen is a Senior Software Engineer based in San Francisco with 14 years of experience building user-facing web applications and leading front-end teams. He has held senior frontend roles at Lyft, Flipboard, and multiple positions at StumbleUpon, and now applies that product-driven UX focus to AI-enabled work at Refuel.AI. Derek blends hands-on engineering with people leadership—having transitioned from individual contributor to engineering manager and back—so he understands both shipping polished interfaces and mentoring teammates. He’s experienced at scaling frontend codebases in high-traffic environments and bringing pragmatic solutions to complex UI performance and reliability challenges. Though his public GitHub footprint isn’t highlighted here, his long tenure at consumer-facing platforms suggests strong instincts for measurable user impact and cross-functional collaboration.
