Senior🎓
Top SchoolDominique Paul is a Zurich-based freelance software engineer and ML specialist with 10 years of experience building fast, pragmatic products from research prototypes to production demos. Trained at ETH Zurich (MSc Statistics) and published on foundation models and computational genomics, he combines academic rigor with a bias for shipping: prototypes and pipelines that move ideas to working demos within days or weeks. He has a track record consulting for startups (Palta Labs) to solve high-impact problems—OCR for low-quality shipping docs, food-quality vision on constrained hardware, and rapid public demos that closed customers. Dominic favors repurposing off-the-shelf models and warns when ML is unnecessary, focusing only on technically interesting projects rather than billable busywork. Besides teaching data science at Universität St.Gallen, he remains active publishing long-form and frequent updates and is open to coffee chats about unconventional ideas.
