Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolDon Mitchell is a Principal Software Engineer based in Berlin with 13+ years of experience building and architecting high-scale, data-driven systems across adtech, edtech, and SaaS. He combines deep expertise in Kotlin, Java, Python and coroutines with practical mastery of SQL/NoSQL systems (Mongo, Cassandra), queueing, and query optimization to deliver resilient, performance-focused architectures. At CarGurus he led online advertising architecture for billions of ads, applying probabilistic modeling and fine-grained experimentation to optimize bids and ROAS, and now oversees adtech standards and strategy at Delivery Hero. Known for pragmatic, efficient engineering, he repeatedly refactors fragile ETL and distributed systems into resumable, incremental state-machine architectures that scale. Trained as a cognitive scientist (PhD, Northwestern), he brings a rare blend of formal analytical thinking and production-hardened software craftsmanship.
