Top SchoolDong-kyum Kim is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy, specializing in how large language models store, update, and erase internal knowledge. With a PhD in Physics from KAIST and nine years of research experience, he blends rigorous quantitative training with hands-on experimentation in ML interpretability and model editing. His recent postdoc work at IBS and now MPI-SP focuses on making LLMs more transparent and controllable, aiming to bridge theoretical insights with practical defenses for model reliability. Based in Bochum, Germany, he brings a physicist’s precision to probing emergent behaviors in neural networks and designing interventions that alter model memory without catastrophic side effects. Notably, his profile reflects a transition from fundamental physics to applied AI security, giving him a unique perspective on measuring and manipulating knowledge representations.
