Donovan Bray
San Francisco, California, United States
Summary
👤
SeniorDonovan Bray is a seasoned engineering leader with 16 years of experience building scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure and leading DevOps, security, and quality engineering teams. Currently Director of Security & DevOps at Kiavi in San Francisco, he has driven platform resilience and compliance across an end-to-end mortgage marketplace that has originated billions in loans. He combines hands-on expertise in Ruby on Rails back ends, MySQL/Postgres/Redshift, Redis, Docker, and AWS with a strong background in systems operations, deployment automation, and audit-driven security (SSAE 16, PCI DSS). Donovan has repeatedly moved teams from fragile to robust—implementing horizontal scaling, CI/CD, and performance testing—while still shipping code and tooling himself. He brings a pragmatic, operational mindset from early career network and systems leadership in education to complex cloud-native architectures. Colleagues rely on him to translate compliance and security requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
