Top SchoolEdward Tremel is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science with a decade of experience researching distributed systems for emerging hardware platforms, including RDMA datacenter networks and secure IoT devices. He earned his PhD at Cornell working with Ken Birman and translated that research into practical systems during internships at Microsoft Research focused on the Azure Sphere security platform. Based in Augusta, Georgia, he combines academic rigor with industry-savvy, having built developer tooling and production features during internships at Microsoft, Amazon, and Cisco. His profile reflects a knack for bridging low-level networking and hardware-aware software design with hands-on engineering—an atypical mix that enables both novel research and deployable systems.
