Top SchoolEdwin Kestler is an entrepreneur and technologist from Guatemala driven by a decades-long mission to use information technology as a tool for community empowerment. His career began installing satellite communications in rural Guatemala, where he witnessed firsthand how simple connectivity can catalyze social and economic resilience—a formative experience that still shapes his venture-focused approach. Combining a hacker's hands-on mentality with entrepreneurial risk-taking and volunteerism, he pursues projects that emphasize practical impact over novelty. With formal ties to MIT and eleven years of professional experience, he blends global technical perspective with deep local insight. He frames work as a cycle—Hack, Learn, Research, Innovate, Start-up, Launch, Disrupt, Repeat—seeking scalable solutions that change how underserved communities access information. Notably, his background suggests he values low-bandwidth, high-impact technologies that meet real-world needs rather than tech for its own sake.
