Summary
👤
SeniorElias Ba is a senior software engineer with a decade of experience building resilient, production-grade data integration and workflow automation systems at the intersection of open source, AI, and digital public goods. At OpenFn he leads development of Lightning, an open-source platform used by governments and NGOs to connect health systems, CRMs, and national reporting infrastructure, and has integrated LLM-assisted tooling to simplify real-world operational workflows. His background spans distributed systems, ML-driven products, and applied data engineering across healthcare, aviation, and development sectors, with hands-on expertise in Elixir/Phoenix, PostgreSQL, and ML pipelines. A founder of GalsenAI, Elias also invests in community building and mentorship in Senegal, pairing technical stewardship with attention to socio-technical consequences of technology. He favors clarity and tools that "disappear into the workflow," prioritizing systems that are understandable, usable, and durable in low-resource environments.
