Top SchoolEuan Smith is a technology leader and physicist with 20+ years of experience translating optics, photonics and organic electronics research into commercial products and systems. As Head of Systems and Photonics at 42 Technology he combines hands-on hardware and algorithm development with strategic roles in consortium formation, funding and IP negotiation. He has driven projects from technical lead to company-wide new-technology responsibility and holds over 40 patent families spanning OLED/OTFT devices, display driving, optical design and image processing. An IEC TC110 expert active across touch, laser displays and optical measurement working groups, he blends deep physics knowledge (PhD in nonlinear optics) with modern full‑stack and Matlab coding for algorithm development and cloud deployment. Notably, he bridges specialist optical engineering and practical software/systems delivery, making him equally at home prototyping lab hardware or shipping production cloud services.
