Senior🎓
Top SchoolEvan Lok is a Principal Software Engineer in San Francisco with 13 years building scalable web applications and platform services, primarily in Ruby on Rails. He has led engineering teams and architecture initiatives at companies like Upstart, Tanium, and Opower, designing microservices platforms, SSO-enabled multi-app UIs, and performance-focused refactors. Evan combines full-stack expertise—databases (MySQL/Postgres), front-end tooling (Webpack, AngularJS), and cloud infrastructure—with hands-on delivery of high-throughput systems such as video generation engines and email pipelines. He’s repeatedly improved performance and stability through pragmatic engineering (for example, doubling email throughput and cutting content tool latency in half). Comfortable in both startup and enterprise contexts, he bridges product and platform concerns to ship reliable systems on aggressive timelines. Evan’s background shows a pattern of creating reusable frameworks and automation that scale teams as well as systems.
