Top SchoolFinn Upham is an interdisciplinary researcher and postdoctoral fellow based in New York, specializing in music cognition, music technology, and psychophysiology with 15 years of experience bridging applied mathematics, cognitive psychology, and performance practice. They measure how music affects listeners moment-by-moment using tools like MATLAB, Python, and PureData, and their PhD research focused on respiratory behavior during music listening. At McGill’s Distributed Digital Music Archives & Libraries lab they combine empirical methods and creative practice to develop reproducible analyses of musical experience. Finn’s background in both rigorous math and live performance gives them a rare ability to translate complex quantitative models into experiments rooted in real-world listening contexts.
