Top SchoolFrancisco Calisto is a researcher-turned-founder with 11 years of experience at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Health Informatics, and AI, now leading BreastScreening-AI from Portugal. He designs and builds mobile, sensor, and collaborative systems that reduce cognitive and operational burdens for clinicians, patients, and people with disabilities, blending human-centered design with quantitative evaluation. His academic path includes a PhD-level research portfolio and a visiting scholar stint at CMU HCI, while he also teaches and mentors at Instituto Superior Técnico. Francisco pairs hands-on software engineering experience—from web development to research engineering—with entrepreneurial training from European Innovation Academy and Babson College, reflecting a rare mix of lab rigor and startup execution. An unspoken strength is his focus on practical clinical impact: translating sensor and imaging research into tools that clinicians can realistically adopt.
