Top SchoolGeoffrey Collis is a retired IT consultant and seasoned infrastructure engineer with over two decades of hands-on experience at leading Internet and engineering firms including Yahoo, eBay, Kelkoo and Philips Semiconductors. He has driven high-stakes work spanning performance engineering, UNIX/Solaris administration, storage and SAN design, cloud-scale capacity planning, and cross-border acquisitions, often saving millions through procurement and standardization decisions. Calm, methodical and people-focused, he has led international teams and technical migrations (AIX→Linux, large-scale datacentre integrations) while mentoring Tier 1–3 staff and translating complex technical issues for non-technical stakeholders. Even in retirement he remains active—building a personal site, exploring IBM Watson/NLU, Python web stacks and Docker, and contributing architecture work for startups—reflecting a continual curiosity beyond traditional ops duties.
