Top SchoolGunnar Kudrjavets is a Principal Software Engineer with over 11 years of experience focused on operating systems, kernel security, and high-performance software at cloud scale. Currently working on EC2 Nitro at AWS, he specializes in Linux kernel development, CVE mitigation, toolchain and C runtime optimization, and debugging nondeterministic distributed-system failures. Gunnar is obsessive about efficiency—reducing bytes, joules, and milliseconds—and treats the debugger like a shell to root-cause elusive bugs. His career spans deep systems roles across Microsoft and Facebook, a PhD candidacy at the University of Groningen, and periods of reflective sabbatical that sharpened his focus on hard problems. He blends pragmatic production engineering with curiosity-driven exploration (he even dabbles in rootkits), making systems leaner and more secure. Based in Kirkland, WA, he brings rare depth in both offensive/defensive security thinking and large-scale performance optimization.
