Senior🎓
Top SchoolIlya Tsarev is an action-oriented Engineering Manager with an MBA and over 17 years in technology and finance, currently leading engineering at Compass out of San Francisco. He combines hands-on cloud and full‑stack engineering (Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, AWS, Kubernetes) with people-first management, having scaled and coached teams up to 12 engineers and guided 10+ engineers through promotions and role transitions. Ilya has a track record of turning troubled projects into business wins—recovering a Cisco engagement to add $1M ARR and delivering a $2.5M IoT/AWS solution that cut client utility bills by ~10%. He excels at simplifying complexity and improving delivery processes (virtual squads, CI/CD, situational leadership) to double release velocity, reduce bugs, and slash spam by 99% in production incidents. Comfortable at the intersection of product, operations, and customer success, he repeatedly drives measurable product usage and ARR improvements while preserving engineering culture and team growth.
