Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolJianing (Catherine) Zhang is a software engineer and Master's student in Computational Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University with nine years of practical experience building applied ML and data systems. She has contributed to production-scale projects at Alphabet and iFLYTEK, including fraud detection improvements and an eight-stage pipeline for billion-scale multilingual audio processing that increased corpus quality and team efficiency. Her research work spans distributionally robust optimization and generative approaches for tabular data, where she improved worst-case accuracy dramatically and demonstrated synthetic data’s utility for minority-class learning. She combines strong engineering chops with rigorous research—bridging optimization theory, signal-based healthcare modeling, and large-scale data engineering—to deliver scalable, trustworthy AI solutions. Based in Pittsburgh, she is seeking summer 2026 internships in ML engineering, data science, and data engineering with a focus on healthcare and intelligent applications.
