Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolJoel Hawkins is a full-stack web engineer and designer with 11 years of experience building accessible, performant JavaScript and TypeScript applications for companies like Apple, Nike, Autodesk, Intuit, and Disney Streaming. Formally trained in physics from Reed College, he combines rigorous mathematical and data-visualization instincts with a strong eye for aesthetic UX to deliver intuitive, cohesive web experiences. He has led major front-end and checkout redesigns, improved CI/CD and test coverage at scale, and advocated for accessibility and performance improvements that measurably boosted metrics. Comfortable across React/Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, and cloud-native deployments, Joel often bridges design and engineering rather than treating them as separate disciplines. Unusually, his senior thesis blended topology and interactive web visualizations—an early signal of his talent for making complex technical ideas understandable to non-technical audiences. Based in Portland, he brings both consulting experience and enterprise delivery chops to craft elegant, inclusive products.
