Jonathon Deason
Staff Software Engineer at Credit Acceptance
San Francisco, California, United States
Summary
🤩
RockstarJonathon Deason is a Staff Software Engineer in San Francisco with 11 years of experience designing and delivering backend systems and event-driven microservices. He has progressed from hands-on engineering to technical leadership roles—most recently at Credit Acceptance after stints as Principal Engineer at Coalition and Avant—where he architected Kafka-backed services, Camunda workflows, Python/FastAPI APIs, and cloud-native deployments. At Philz Coffee he led a migration from legacy Node systems to a Laravel/GCP platform that helped triple mobile-driven revenue, highlighting his ability to align engineering work with business outcomes. He blends mentoring, architecture, and rigorous QA in regulated and high-availability environments, and is comfortable owning requirements, documentation, and testing as much as code. An engineer who moves fluidly between shipping features and shaping developer practice, he’s as focused on durable systems as on measurable product impact.
