👤
SeniorJoshua Hetland is a strategic engineering leader with 11 years of experience building enterprise-grade cloud platforms and site reliability practices for large, regulated organizations. Currently SVP & Director of Site Reliability Engineering at Northern Trust, he previously led cloud platform strategy and migration efforts at Walgreens Boots Alliance, working closely with Microsoft to design scalable, auditable multi-cloud foundations. He combines hands-on systems engineering and automation expertise—from CI/CD, configuration management, and container orchestration to custom tooling—with a developer background across C#, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, Ruby, and Python. Joshua has a track record of turning complex operational requirements into reusable, testable infrastructure patterns and self-service tooling that empower distributed application teams. He also applies pragmatic, cost-conscious cloud architectures to nonprofit projects (e.g., a Raspberry Pi–driven real-time tournament system) showing a flair for creative, low-cost engineering. Based in Northbrook, IL, he pairs deep technical craftsmanship with executive-facing strategy and regulatory-aware delivery.
