Summary
🤩
RockstarJulio Sanz is a Senior Data Scientist and medically trained GP with 11 years building clinical NLP and Real World Evidence data products at the intersection of healthcare, epidemiology and AI. He designs and deploys production-grade ML systems—contributing to Spark-NLP and delivering deidentification, NER, real-time red-flag detection and multilingual Q&A solutions for clients like Kaiser Permanente, Flatiron and Microsoft. Julio blends hands-on engineering (Scala, Python, Spark) with strategic leadership as AI/ML director and head of AI teams across startups and CROs, and teaches NLP and AI modules at multiple universities. His unusual combo of an Executive MBA, dual MSc degrees in Bioinformatics and Epidemiology, and a medical specialty enables him to translate clinical needs into regulatory-aware, research-grade data products. He also mentors MSc epidemiology students and has led large-scale EHR data programs (BIFAP), giving him deep domain credibility beyond typical data-science backgrounds.
