Top SchoolKa Tsang is a doctoral student in Pharmacology at the University of Cambridge with eight years of research experience spanning structural biology, protein engineering, microbiology, and host-pathogen interactions. Their MPhil and BSc (1st Class) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong centered on urease maturation in Helicobacter pylori, including structural determination of the HypA/UreE complex, giving them deep expertise in mechanistic enzymology and metal-dependent protein assembly. Currently supervised by Prof. Laura Itzhaki, Ka combines structural insights with drug design and oncology interests to translate fundamental protein structures into therapeutic strategies. They bring a strong experimental pedigree in bacterial virulence factors and a knack for connecting molecular detail to broader disease-relevant questions. Notably, Ka’s trajectory reflects both rigorous structural work and an appetite for engineering proteins toward biomedical applications.
