Senior🎓
Top SchoolKai Wu is a postdoctoral researcher at Heidelberg University with a PhD in Mathematical Sciences and a decade of experience modeling the formation and dynamical evolution of planetary systems in star clusters using GPU-accelerated N-body codes. He combines deep technical expertise in NBODY6++GPU and REBOUND with hands-on software stewardship as the administrator of the NBODY6++GPU GitHub repository, bringing reproducible computational workflows to astrophysical simulations. His work spans theory and observation—ranging from collision phases in planet formation studied at CITA to debris-disk modeling with Spitzer and Herschel data at STScI. An experienced reviewer for Astronomy & Astrophysics, he translates research rigor into clear communication and peer evaluation. Kai also enjoys mentorship and teaching, having authored a comprehensive 10,000+ character handbook for doctoral students in Chinese, reflecting a commitment to community-building beyond research. Based in Heidelberg, he blends numerical sophistication with practical project management and open-source collaboration.
