Top SchoolKarl Voelker is a Staff Software Engineer based in San Francisco with 16 years of experience building production-grade systems across startups and larger engineering organizations. He progressed from intern and early engineering roles at Microsoft, Truviso, and Lab126 to long-tenured senior positions at Plum and Pilot, where he now drives technical direction. His background blends full-stack and systems work—dating back to student projects at RIT involving C, SQL, LDAP, and web technologies—giving him a pragmatic grasp of both legacy and modern stacks. Karl is skilled at scaling services and mentoring teams through growth phases, having moved from individual contributor to staff-level impact. He holds dual M.S./B.S. degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology and studied computer science at University of Wisconsin–Madison, reflecting a strong academic foundation paired with sustained industry delivery. Colleagues describe him as a steady problem-solver who prefers shipping reliable systems over chasing the latest hype.
