Top SchoolKarthik Subramanian is a senior software engineering manager with 9 years of experience building scalable web applications, ETL pipelines, and cloud-native infrastructure, currently leading engineering at Scholastic. He combines hands-on expertise in Java, Python/Django, Angular, and AWS services with a track record of reducing tech debt, optimizing performance, and designing reusable components and APIs that query both MySQL and Elasticsearch. Previously he led teams and end-to-end deliveries at Larsen & Toubro Infotech and Renaissance, architecting integrations with messaging systems (RabbitMQ), BPM (Camunda), and third-party media vendors to automate complex workflows. Known for mentoring engineers and improving delivery quality, he also designs custom middleware (e.g., Django email integration with Adobe Campaign) and automation solutions that yielded measurable operational savings. Based in the Waterloo region, he brings a pragmatic, data-driven approach to tradeoffs between cost and scalability, and a history of refactoring legacy systems into durable, testable platforms.
