Top SchoolKevin Smithson is a Senior DevOps Engineer with 11 years of hands-on experience building and operating high-traffic web and iOS systems, currently engineering automation and cloud tooling at Philips. He has led teams from idea to production, architecting microservices and in-house developer tools that supported a 15x Black Friday spike and 6M daily visitors with 100% uptime. A serial founder and product leader, he launched a #1 App Store iOS app and a featured app on Today, combining product intuition with low-level engineering. His background spans DevOps, CloudFoundry/AWS automation, WireGuard VPNs, IoT, and full-stack iOS/web development—skills he leverages to streamline deployment and observability. Based in Encinitas, CA, he pairs entrepreneurial grit from multiple startup CTO/CEO roles with enterprise-grade reliability practices. An unexpected strength: he moves comfortably between HVAC control systems programming early in his career and modern cloud-native infrastructure today, giving him practical systems-level perspective.
