Top SchoolKiyoshi Kurihara is an AI and speech synthesis expert with over a decade of engineering experience and a Ph.D. in Engineering, known for launching Japan’s first AI News Anchor at NHK and deploying it during real-world emergencies. He combines deep research credentials—9 patents, multiple top-conference papers, and industry awards—with hands-on broadcast engineering and program management experience across NHK and academic roles. At NHK he bridged research and operations, defining governance for generative AI, managing Azure at scale, and leading production-grade voice synthesis projects that matched human-recorded quality in Japanese. Now based in Setagaya and active in both university and industry labs, he focuses on practical AI deployments that respect linguistic nuance and societal impact. Notably, his work has been adopted across broadcasters and used in emergency broadcasts, showing rare operational maturity for a research-led technologist.
