Senior🎓
Top SchoolKnut Jetlund is a research scientist and Assistant Professor II with over a decade of experience specializing in harmonizing and standardizing geospatial information across GIS, ITS and BIM domains. He holds a PhD in Engineering focused on linking conceptual models of geospatial information and leads UML model stewardship as Convenor of the Harmonised Model Maintenance Group in ISO/TC 211. Knut has driven national and international standards work for SOSI, INSPIRE and the Norwegian Road Database, translating international standards into practical data models and exchange formats. He combines rigorous information modelling (UML, OWL, MDA) with hands-on data processing using FME, SPARQL and RDF to enable interoperable spatial data flows. In academia he teaches information modelling and digital twins while continuing applied research at the Norwegian Mapping Authority, bridging theory and operational implementation. A less obvious strength is his track record of shaping best practices for UML within ISO working groups, making him both a technical modeler and an influential standards architect.
