Senior🎓
Top SchoolKristofor Carlson is a Manager of Applied Research at BrainChip with 13 years of experience translating computational neuroscience into deployable neuromorphic and machine learning solutions. He leads development of spiking neural network algorithms and synaptic-plasticity models optimized for event-driven hardware, bridging academic rigor from a PhD in computational neuroscience with production-focused engineering. His background includes postdoctoral work at Sandia and UC Irvine where he built large-scale spiking models, uncertainty quantification tools, and automated parameter-tuning frameworks for neuromorphic platforms. Kristofor combines expertise in DNNs/CNNs/RNNs with deep knowledge of synaptic homeostasis and STDP, enabling hybrid approaches that are both biologically grounded and hardware-efficient. Based in Newport Beach, he is known for making obscure neural dynamics practical for low-power, parallel implementations—an uncommon strength among applied ML managers.
