Layne Koftinow-Mikan
Summary
🤩
RockstarLayne Koftinow-mikan is a Senior Software Engineer at Shopify with a background in backend Ruby on Rails and prior full-stack experience in Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, React, and Vue. Over six years in the industry, they have shipped features across startups and enterprises—building localization and event-driven microservices at Capital One and on-demand insurance products at Slice Labs—while also mentoring junior engineers. Comfortable across the stack, Layne pairs production debugging and observability (Postgres, Splunk) with pragmatic design of REST and event-driven APIs. Based in Old Toronto, they bring a hands-on approach to dividing work into epics and stories and accelerating team onboarding, often surfacing non-obvious reliability improvements during incident investigations.
