Top SchoolLen De Groot is a seasoned technology and editorial leader with 14+ years blending publishing, data visualization, and IT leadership to modernize workflows and products. As Director of Information Technology and former Director of Data Visualization at the Los Angeles Times, he transformed print-centric teams into digital-first units, cutting print production, halving page load times, and driving stories into the site’s top performers that reached millions annually. He pairs hands-on technical training (HTML/CSS/JS/GIS) and CMS implementation experience with strategic project management—managing large rollouts, QA, and training for hundreds of staff. Known for collaborative, proactive leadership, Len builds cross-functional teams that deliver measurable audience and revenue growth while balancing short- and long-term priorities. An unexpected strength is his instructional background at UC Berkeley’s Knight Center, which underpins his ability to turn complex data and systems into teachable, repeatable practices.
