Senior🎓
Top SchoolLucas Watson is a senior software engineer and roboticist with a decade of experience building motion, perception, and control software for autonomous systems, currently advancing robotics at Waymo. He combines mechanical engineering graduate-level expertise in controls with hands-on work shipping safety-critical planning and control stacks, and previously launched a commercial follower robot (gita) where he owned controllers, state estimation, and on-device CNN optimization. Comfortable across the software–hardware boundary, he has optimized inference on Jetson TX2, implemented high-performance serialization for ZeroMQ, and modeled dynamics to inform mechanical design. Based in San Francisco, he pairs maker instincts with mentorship and event leadership from his BostonHacks work, reflecting a penchant for scaling teams and translating prototypes into product-ready systems.
