Top SchoolLucio Maciel is a Senior Android Engineer with 17 years of experience building mobile apps and leading Android teams across startups and global companies, currently driving Android development at Hypergiant from Uruguay. A former Google Developer Expert in Android and frequent conference speaker, he blends deep platform expertise with a strong UI/UX sensibility and a track record of shipping consumer and privacy-focused apps at companies like Signal, Citizen, eyeo, and We Heart It. He has led Android efforts for high-profile clients and products including JetBlue, Bleacher Report Live, Samsung Internet’s AdBlock Plus, and open-source contributions such as enhancements to the popular AsymmetricGridView library. Comfortable moving between hands-on implementation and technical leadership, Lucio is known for performance-minded engineering (view pooling, reordering optimizations) and mentoring developer communities. He brings additional low-level systems experience from earlier kernel- and network-focused roles, giving him a rare full-stack perspective on mobile performance and reliability.
